It does not cover the scent, but destroys it and continues to do so for days.

I was introduced to the Remington Scent Elimination System in late October prior to my annual hunt in Southern Ohio. I was pleased with the scent elimination product that I was currently using, but after learning the science behind the Remington product I had to give it a try.  I was not disappointed.

I am a very scent conscious hunter.  Sometimes, I even go a little overboard. The way I used this product is in several steps. First let me describe how I treat my clothing.  I washed all of my hunting clothing in the laundry detergent and dried them in my dryer. Once dry, I saturated my clothing with the Remington spray and let it air dry.  Then, I stored them in a scent proof bag. Second issue is the removal of body scent. Before every hunt I shower, if at all possible.  (If I do not have time to shower, I will spray down prior to getting dressed at my hunting location.) Third is the prevention of human scent prior to hunting.  Once I’m dressed I will spray down from head to toe. Fourth is the last chance spray at the stand.  After settling into my stand for the hunt, I apply the spray for the last time. Like I stated before, this may be a little overkill.  However, hunters live and die by the extremely sensitive nose of the whitetail deer.

During my hunt, the weather was in the low thirties in the morning with temperatures rising into the high forties or low fifties through out the day. I got to see a lot of deer movement during my hunt with numerous deer passing by down wind of my stand.  At one time I had seven bucks down wind. I was bow hunting, so the majority of deer were between ten and eighty yards. There were several deer that crossed the trail that I used to walk to my stand. What impressed me most about the Remington product was the fact that none of the deer crossing my trail stopped to smell the path.  In the past, with other scent elimination products, deer would stop and put their nose down and sniff where I had walked. Using the Remington spray none of the deer sniffed my trail, which highly impressed me.

In my opinion, the Remington Scent Elimination System is an excellent science based system that works and works well. It does not cover the scent but destroys it and continues to do so for days. I’m a true believer that if  I have something that works I usually will not change it unless something better comes along and Remington is that something better.
