I am an avid whitetail deer hunter. I have had the opportunity to try Remingtons new Scent Control Technology with RemShield and let me be the first to say that this stuff REALLY works well. I have used a lot of different cover scents that claim to be the best in masking human scent, and they are right they do MASK the scent. Remingtons Scent Control Technology with RemShield does not MASK the scent it eliminates it.
I have been able to use this product on 3 different hunts in 2014, 2 hunts in NC and 1 hunt in Ohio. On all 3 occasions I had deer come straight to my stand from downwind walking directly beneath my stand and never as much as lifted their nose to the air. Now anybody thats a serious deer hunter knows that deer can pick up your scent LONG before you ever see them, therefore a lot of opportunities to harvest deer are missed based solely on scent control alone.
On my Ohio hunt I was in a ladder box type stand, the morning was clear and very cold with wind as luck would have it blowing directly downwind from my stand. I had treated my hunting clothes and gear the day before the hunt and retreated them with a top coat of scent control before leaving camp to head to my stand. The wind that morning continued to gradually pick up and maintained its pattern blowing downwind from my stand. The first deer of the day were some doe that walked out of the woods downwind and fed directly downwind to my stand. As the day went on I had at least 20 deer consisting of mainly doe with a few small bucks in the mix feed all around my stand with not as much as a raised head to my stand, they had no idea I was any where around much less directly above them in the same tree they were feeding underneath. Later in the morning I was able to harvest a HUGE 9 point buck that scored 149 & 7/8 the biggest deer I had ever harvested. All this would not have happened if not for good scent control. If all the other deer in the field could have picked up my scent they would not have stayed around long enough for my big 9 to show up.
